This image is after the original transfer drawing from 2001 (estate of the artist), which was based on the painting by Kitaj, Los Angeles No. 7 (Double), 2001 (estate of the artist). Kitaj said of the painting: 'Our (Sandra and me) two angels were done after a small single female Cézanne "Bather" painting. Cézanne made over 200 "Bather" paintings, all of them from his imagination or from his sketches'. See Kitaj's 2005 Marlborough, New York exhibition, catalogue no. 60.
